Trying to heal my eyes after this year's dunk Contest 😌
@sam420! too much lean.
LOL you mean the layup contest!
@sam420! and are still impressive than those no hyped, not even the 1st or 2nd try dunks lmao
Gg
Vince, Zach and Aaron got to be the GOATs in the dunk contest. I still feel Aaron was robbed. He had originality, style and difficulty.
Dwight 🐐🐐
Look up Jordan Kilganon
Never that do yo re
Research
Jason Richardson too
I loved Vince's performance, but Zach Lavine & Aaron Gordon had one of the best dunk contests in the history of dunk contests!
The best
Aaron Gordon's dunk is the greatest dunk of all time, but man, Vince Carter's and MJ's dunks with the crowd pop, makes it all the more memorable to me.
@Chevrohn McBean they're not, imagine being able to do 45+ score dunke inside a game with players defending
@Incognito Uh, NOBODY looked better in the air than DR J. Then, after that, Vince Carter. Jordan looked nice in the air, but to suggest no one else did is the sort of things brainwashed bots say. As far as poster dunks, Jordan had NOTHING on Dominique Wilkins or Clyde Drexler. Look up the footage.
MJ dunks were legendary and original in the 80s before between the legs and other jazzy dunks, but no one looked better in the air like MJ. People would buy MJ posters and hang it on their walls. It’s not always about how they look but how they make you feel. And I bet you have a pair of shoes that have MJ dunking in your house.
Everything is relative to time
@Emmanuel Enyinwa mj dunks for the most part are overrated
All of Spud Webb’s dunks became 1000x more impressive when I discovered he was only 5’7”
How old are you? lol! Spud was it during the 80s dunk contests
@TopHatEgg Its terrible too.
5'6"
Zach Lavine is just so effortless and graceful in his execution...just beautiful
@Venchpaul Maypa overall dunk> creativity
@BSE still gordon got creativity
Gets lost on the "Gordon should have won" crowd. He makes it look so easy and effortless. No need for props.
Not enough people in these comments are talking about that McGee dunk @7:50. That was utterly insane!
Underrated dunk for sure. He should have won instead of Blake Griffin.
Man Jason Richardson’s dunks were insane, such power 💪🏻
80's and 90's, someone does a regular dunk just with emphasis: OMG that's a 50. Nowadays someone does a triple salchow while making a hot dog in mid air and then completes a 360 windmill dunk: Man, I wish the dunk contest was like the old days.
80's commentary:
Beautiful dunk
Modern commentary:
LET'S GO HOME! LET'S GO HOME!
@Khoi Viet ok
OOOHHHH!!! AAAWWW!!! UUUHHH!!!
Did he go home this year? Probably not! Dunk contest was weak this year.
Gordon’s dunk over the mascot, J-Rich’s between the legs from behind the backboard and Iguodala’s dunk behind the board are the best by far. Not only are they espectacular and difficult, they are dangerous.
8:56 Those reactions are priceless.
I watched that sideways dunk MJ did live in 1987 and to this day it still amazes me. I swear live it seemed like he was floating. Just amazing!
Zach LaVine and Vince Carter are my all-time favorite dunkers. Such athletes!
Aaron Gordon does a 360, backflip windmill behind the back, between the legs dunk.
Judges: that’s a solid 47
That's why he now wears 50 on the Nuggets
🤣🤣 that contest should have been a tie or a second dunk off between him and Lavine.
His dunk is the most unique out of this dunks too
They did aaron dirty HE DUNKED OVER TACO
Jason Richardson was so compact and technically gifted his problem was he came after Vince.
Amazing to see how the value of 50 has changed over the years.
Everyone talking about Vince, Zach, and Aaron.. I wanna take a second to appreciate that off-the-backboard Nash header to Amare from 05, man that was a top 5 dunk for me personally.
it’s soooo underrated
As an old guy, I have seen nearly all of these dunk contests in the years that they were done. I have to say the 1988 Jordan vs Domonique was the most entertaining as it went back and forth and you really didn't know who was going to win. The Vince Carter dunks were the most exciting as the dunk contest was getting boring/routine in the previous years and he re-vitalized it with original dunks. As for the "best" and coolest dunks, I actually think they were done by Aaron Gordon, still cant believe he never won!?!
Zach Lavine and Aaron Gordon should've been the first co-champions of the slam dunk contest.
Nah, if you take it dunk by dunk each round the only dunk Lavine beat Gordon on was the first dunk of the night and then Gordon beat Lavine on every dunk after
@BP_ he just ran out of ideas after jumping over that mascot...
Lavine stayed solid..
Literally lavine could do any dunk ag can
Yea they bogus as hell 4 that smh
Aaron for sure, hands diown
Gotta give respect to Spud Webb!!!! One of the shortest guys ever dunking with the big boys!! Hella respect!!
Zack Levine did a windmill & through the legs dunk from the free throw line! 🔥 No one did that 💯 NBA Dunk Contest 🐐 hands down! 💯
Absolutely amazing compilation ❤ I was waiting decades for this - all best dunks in HQ. Thank you!!
0:23 the best dunk I’ve ever seen.
To see those smaller guys fly is unbelievable.
@Luka Nesovanovic hi KiraDoRo.
@Michael Smith all the dunks from 1990s to 2010s are better than 2021.
@Kobeezy no hes saying white people can't dunk... that is racist.
@Dimaz he did
The announcers when Jordan does the same dunk over and over again: “Oh my God, the hang time, that a why he’s the best in the world!”
The announcers when Dominique does a brand new dunk that’s twice as impressive: “That dunk was quite lovely. Next”
It’s ridiculous, Jordan is the most overrated athlete in history.
Are we all pretty much in a unanimous agreement that Aaron Gordon definitely should not had lost that one?
Some truly breathtaking dunks and athleticism but but but!..... Spud Webb has absolutely no right as a human to do what he did. 5'7 tall and to this very day it just blows my mind!
Blesdsoe dunk was sick!! Really surprised me!!
Awesome compilation
I loved some of the 2000 dunk contest footage they enhanced to HD on some dunks.
All judges should be required to watch this before the Dunk Contest, so they know what a 50 looks like.
I like how pure most of the dunks were, with no props or extra people. They could improvise in the air. It was about power, grace, difficulty, and style
Carter is still king. No matter what. He'll sit on that dam rim if you asked him
Lavine and Gordon is easily better in the dunk contest.
txbii well julius obviously
Agreed
Contest Dunkers
1. Lavine
2. Gordon
3. VC
4. J - Rich
Carter Lavine and Gordon are tops but i think you guys might be under rating jason richardson hes in my top 4 for me anyways
Came into this stuff with Isiah Rider in '94 with 12 years old. Still loving this, always loved the atmosphere with the contest and the sound of the successful dunks. Appreciate this video very much, my small young version is smiling, thank you!
Crazy to see how the game and the dunks have evolved.
Aaron Gordon the real dunk champion🔥🔥🔥🔥
Can we take a moment to see how different Spud Webb was he was a 5'7 man doing this crazy stuff definitely has the highest vert than anyone his size and just anyone
To see spud Webb at 5’7 is insane. He has to have a 57 inch vert
@Matthew Estes u didn’t touch the rim because of spud web.. what LOL I’m 5’7 I can grab rim and my vertical is only 38
5'6"
48"....I'm the same height and could grab the rim with both hands in high school (and could dunk a volleyball) and my measured standing vertical jump was 33".
His vert was 46 inches just like jordan
Jordan: can I have a Bic Mac meal and a diet Coke?
Judges: that's clearly a 50.
Jason Richardson's reverse through the leg backwards with one hand was sickening.
The 1988 and 2016 contests are for me personally the two best in history. The 2000 contest comes in third, was also a good one.
6:33 Somehow people forget about this dunk when they rate their top 10. Easily top five of all time
Jordan was literally getting 50’s just for being Jordan
Jordan literally did the same dunk TWICE in the same dunk contest. You do that today, you getting booed out the gym. But because it’s Jordan…
@Vanhu Vanhu Vese Exactly, that's what i wanted to say too.Basketball changed so much and it seems that everyone is more athletic now, size(being tall) doesn't matter that much anymore if at all.Nowaday's dunks sure look more flashy but Jordans dunks look cool even today,he was literally flying
@Lucas John lol hurt his legacy? How old are you?
Yup. His dunks weren't that great.
The old commentators were just unfazed by this greatness 😂
9:57 It''s gonna be hard to beat Terence Stansbury. MJ: Actually it's gonna be super easy. Barely an inconvenience.
2:44 one of the best 360 dunks I've ever seen.
Essas dunks são históricas na NBA 🥇🎖🏅🏆🏀😁😆.
Those announcers are epic, "he has the flu, that was sick, send him a get well card". 😂😂😂
@Rj Zaiby crazy dunks lol
@Isaiah cap
5:47
0:48 still the best dunk to date for me
The 360 from top of the key from the player from Denver Nuggets is truly 1 of the most AMAZING DUNKS EVER in Dunk Contest.
6:20 This shows that Steve Nash is the best PG. Man doesn't need hands to assist. He just used his head to think and also, make the assist.
Zach Lavine is incredible, I have to put him at #1 of all time as a dunker
I still think that Aaron Gordon dunk where he’s sitting in the air is the nastiest dunk I’ve ever seen
My favorite dunk of all time. He sat with his head at the rim.. give the man a chair!!! Then as he floated further he had to dunk the ball behind his head since he flew past the rim.. It looked incredible. Def the sickest dunk I have ever seen.
@Crypto Mojako like your choices but ... shaq is greatest power dunker then Darryl Dawkins
In the NBA or any dunker?
When Vince sinks his forearm in the basket is probably one of the only times you just see the NBA stars stunned. Classic.
This may sound crazy but other than VC, my favorite dunk is Jordan, '87 I believe from the side, not the most technical but by far one of, if not, the smoothest and most graceful dunker ever.
I find all the 80s dunks so silly compared to the recent ones from last 20 yrs. I get the novelty aspect from the 80s, but more recent dunks are far far superior
Zach Lavine is a show-stopper. Dude is smooth with them crazy hops.
That Gordon dunk with the maskscot spinning is the greatest dunk of all time thats crazy to me how he timed that beautiful
It’s great but the chair dunk as I call it. Where he is sitting in mid air is the best most creative and difficult dunk ever, by a non pro dunker
That's my favorite dunk ever. Amare was nice too. Hail Air Gordon.
@WiltzJun Tan Lavine and Jordan were the bounciest but Zach had much better technical dunks. You can tell Zach practiced those dunks for years and Jordan made his up the day before the event.
Top 2 with that he's like sitting in air behind the legs... He has the wow factor. But Lavine won, tsktsk.
Him sitting in the air over a mascot while putting it below his legs and dunk, that is imo, the greatest dunk i dunk contest history, and it’s not even close, just unreal...
Man! AG! His dunk over the mascot while sitting in the air will be forever legendary. It is so sick! Damn!
Dwight Howard was for me one of the top 5 best dunkers on the last 20 years🔥🔥👏👌👌
after watching this, I realized that the dunks back then were not that much better than the dunks today. It's just that we never saw dunks like that back then so the creativity part of it made it spectacular. Also, not considering the era, Aaron Gordon and VC are 1a 1b of all time.
Aaron Gordon had the best dunk of all time! Dude was sitting in the air!
just tryna heal my eyes after watching that 2022 contest.
@Christ Alone 89 probably in game dunking but not in a contest. That belongs to AG
@Brian Holman vince is the goat
2021 wants to issue you an apology on behalf of 2022
Grab more soap for those eyes this year stunk
2022 was even worse bro
Zach Lavine is the GOAT of NBA slam dunk. End of the story😎👍🏻
2016 Zach Lavine... I've never seen that before, but that was friggin impressive!
Zach Lavine in 2015-16 had the greatest appearances in dunk contest history
J Rich, Vince, Aaron Gordon, Zach. The only ones that ever deserved 50s
Spud Webb should get 50 points just for dunking
I been 5'7" since 7th grade... only barely touched the bottom of the rim... once
Hahahaha true that!
@Nathan Kpodo of course his smaller than curry. Alot of nba players is smaller than curry, curry is 6'3". WTF
Na. It’s not a highjump competition.
what’s the prob kid he’s small and he can dunk better than you
Man, Zach combines grace and power like almost nobody on this list.
6:20 amazing top 1 dunk tricks of all time
That Dennis Smith Jr. between the legs dunk is underrated af, that was a high degree of difficulty
They're all great but the style MJ has its what makes him incredible he is just natural
1:24 Man, Jason Richardson's performance impresses the crowd
All those dunks was legendary but the power of Dominique Wilkens oh my God
I like how the dunk contest has perfect scores unlike other sports that rate with similar systems. Why can't athletes like gymnasts be judged base on their total perfect scores per tournament, with a cumulative score like this at the end.
MJ's Takeoff and air time was so amazing to witness.
50s are given way too generously in this contest.
@Yell2x back then was the mosg mediocre dunks you could possibly find lmao
Tell that to Aaron gordon
@ichirakuramen not to take anything from Jordan but his dunk in the dunk contest was whatever. He got his points because he was Jordan.
@Yell2x What you mean dudes were doing regular dunks for 50's back then.
The way the video is set up it looks like that
Wilkins dunk at 4:09 will always be legendary..
4:50 para mí el mejor gracias Vince Carter
Jason Richardson dunk was absolutely amazing durring it's time.
Spud Webb will always be one of my favorites.
Jordan really loves that free throw line dunk
@dons life in the dunk contest yes but jordan is better than Lavinia at everything else
Well everyone saying the new era is better but i guarantee its far from the truth obesity rates are sky high now days everyone and their mama could run 3 miles back then now everyone eats chips and watches tv and somehow there is so much talent now lmao. I guess tv making people stupid as well. Now its a small group doing butt shots just to have normalish testosterone levels.
In 85 &86 he was really at the free throw line
Bøviçe LaFlarë theres a actually difference mike was dribbling the ball and lavine is just holding the ball
Every time I see Aaron Gordon's dunk highlights, I become more convinced that he was robbed.
Some of these dunks were legit jaw dropping...others I was doing in highschool.
This video was just 17 minutes of consistent greatness and I absolutely goddamn LOVED IT!
In the modern era, I think Levine might be the king. 👑
Can we take a minute and appreciate Jason Richardson? Man was doing things effortlessly!! He’s in my Top 5 dunkers ever!
And that’s why he was my favourite player in nba2K4
J-Rich gets lost a little because he was a power dunker. He wasn't quite as smooth as some of the guys like Lavine or Vince.
100%
Real ones know that Jrich top 5 dunk contest dunker. For he's just as good as Vince.
10:11 Dude that was an Olympic long jump and a high jump at the same time 😎🔥🔥😂😂👏👌👌
12:49 It s choking how easy it was for Lavine when u see how hard it was for Andre to make it. Everythg look easy for Lavine man.
Zach only needed 4 casual steps and a 2 foot gather, to do free throw line windmill... 🤯
Wow! I had never seen that Aaron Gordon dunk, best dunk I’ve ever seen!
Aaron Gordon does a 50 point dunk.
Judges: 47
I’m giving ur comment 9 points for positivity
ebony
He jumped over taco fall
i only jump 5 foot 10 inches
Gordon deserves 5 trophy’s for the amount of times this man’s been robbed. But Vince Carter’s contest was the best I’ve ever seen by an individual
Imagine: Vince Carter, Aaron Gordon, Zach Lavine and Jason Richardson competing in their primes, it's going to be a long night for a dunk contest 😅
That JRich reverse between the legs one of most underrated of all time
It almost feels like every dunk has been done now. We need more creativity like the Nash head oop
After this year's tournament, in those best-of vids I'd like very much to know how many tries were necessary for each of those dunks.
Jordan had the swag in the air, Dominique had the power and Vince had both.
dominique IMO is the best dunker of all time. His technique and in air movements were crisp and flawless
Best In game dunker unquestionably
You can tell the difference in athleticism between then and now in this clip also it show how Jordan really caught air like he wasn’t from this world 🌎
Bro, Spud Webb was such a spectacle. Just making a normal dunk would have been a 50, but my man here was doing 360's and stuff. Absolute LEGEND.
@davidca96 I think you were looking at an old video. I've seen him hit 50" on one of those vertical jump testers. Kilgannon can hit 50" as well.
@S Des it was 46" actually, which is still absurdly crazy. Spud couldnt palm the ball either, which makes it that much harder.
@S Des, I'll check it out.
There's a guy who does the dunk circuit that calls himself Anthony Height. He's 5'6 with a measured 50" vertical jump. The shit he can do is MIND-BLOWING!
Carter, Gordon, Levine, Richardson were the best in this competition hands down
2:44 I think that’s the most difficult one why have I never seen this before 🤦🏾♂️😳
